NEW BLACKLIGHT: TANGO DOWN DEV-DIARY SHOWS OFF LIMITLESS CUSTOMIZATION

IGNITION ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS OFF NEAR LIMITLESS CUSTOMIZATION WITH AN ALL-NEW DEVELOPER DIARY FOR BLACKLIGHT: TANGO DOWN

Developers discuss the advanced futuristic shooter and the trillions of combinations available in one of this summer’s most anticipated downloadable games

If having nearly endless choices of weaponry is something that scratches you right where you itch, than this summers fast paced, action-oriented DLG Blacklight: Tango Down – coming soon for XBLA, PSN and PC – will be right up your alley. According to the developers, the game will literally offer something for every person on the planet – millions of times over.

Blacklight: Tango Down boast a robust and deep customization that delivers literally trillions of different weapon combinations. To give some insight into this unparalleled customization, Ignition Entertainment released a “Customization” developer Diary today, in which the evil geniuses at Zombie Studios show gamers the nitty-gritty behind the customization and how they can get the most out of all the possible combinations.

We’ve seen things like this before with games like Boarderlands where it seems like you are finding a new type of weapon every 5 steps. However,  the cynic in me will reserve judgement until I see or experience some gameplay, because as any gamer knows, if the gameplay isn’t there I don’t care how many guns I can create. Having said that, I am impressed with this ambitious attempt from an indie developer.

ABOUT BLACKLIGHT: TANGO DOWN
Available this summer on XBLA, PSN, and PC, BlackLight: Tango Down is a fast-paced, action-oriented first-person shooter that marks the first release of what will be a multi-platform entertainment franchise. Beyond the video game, a BlackLight feature film from Twentieth Century Fox and comic book series are currently in development. Designed to bring a fun, absorbing, and high quality AAA multiplayer experience to DLG venues, the game exists in a future between contemporary and sci-fi shooters – part Blade Runner and part Call of Duty.

Developed by Zombie Studios, BlackLight: Tango Down takes place 25 years into the future. The player takes control of an elite covert ops team that is sent after missing American Colonel Klein and his personal BlackLight team. The game will feature four single player/co-op levels that support up to four players at once, 12 multiplayer maps, seven game types and literally millions of weapons customization combinations. As the team advances through regions that consist of old world architecture over laden with ubiquitous modern holographic advertising, the trigger based dynamic AI offers an intense and varied experience every time the game is played.

I love the concept of the custom weapon tag! Great idea for customization but I agree, gameplay and control will make or break this shooter. Hopefully we can get a chance to playtest this one!
