Aurora Feint Unveils Android/ iPhone Cross-Platform Play

Mobile game multiplayer tech-maker Aurora Feint has unveiled a new cross-platform service known as OpenFeint Playtime, which will allow real-time online play between users of Apple’s iOS and Android-based devices.

The service, which will also feature real-time voice chat, follows hot on the heels of Apple’s confirmation that its Game Center will launch alongside its new range of hardware next week.

Turf Wars, The Battle for Google Map Supremacy rages on.

Almost a year ago, we interviewed Nick Baicoianu of Mean Free Path LLC and creator of the iPhone App, Turf Wars. Since then, the Turf Wars App has made its way up to being one of the top downloaded free apps on the Apple iPhone and now, the Apple iPad.

Turf Wars is a social gaming experience that, at first glance, will resemble the 100’s of mob war style games that have proliferated themselves throughout the social media scene. Plants vs Zombies confirmed for XBLA this Fall

PopCap’s announced that Plants vs Zombies will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade this September for 1200 MSP ($15.00 US).

Last week I was perusing through my 360 game library and noticed that I didn’t have Plants vs Zombies. Obviously having a major brain fart and forgetting that it was released in 2009 on PC and Mac and has yet to make its way to the console market. So imagine my surprise when a few days later I received a press release informing me that critically acclaimed and PopCap’s top-grossing iPhone game would be making its way to XBLA this fall.

What surprised me even more was that PopCap revealed there would be even more game content than the previous iteration of the franchise, boasting seven games modes, including two all-new multiplayer modes, 12 unique achievement and 21 mini-games.

The initial edition of Bird Strike did exceptionally well with more than 1.4 million downloads since its release. The game mechanics revolve around players launching Gerald the Bird from pole wires (a’la slingshot style) into the air at high velocities to see how high he can go. Vertically navigate your way through the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere and thermosphere while collecting rockets and pick-ups that will help him soar higher and avoid obstacles that would stop his ascent.
